Before Getting Started:
- Take a proper back up of your important data and settings on the phone using a custom recovery such as TWRP. In case anything goes wrong then you’ll be able to restore your data.
- Download and install proper USB Drivers for the Galaxy E5 on PC.
- Enable USB Debugging Mode on Galaxy E5 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
- The latest version of a custom recovery like TWRP should be installed on it.
- Make sure that the battery level of your Galaxy E5 is at least about 80% before proceeding to the installation guide.
Steps to Update Galaxy E5 E500H to CyanogenMod 12.1 Custom ROM:

Step No 2:- Copy/paste the ROM .zip file to the root folder of internal storage of Galaxy E5.

Step No 5:- While the Galaxy E5 is now in TWRP recovery, perform a nandroid backup.
Note:- Tap on backup option in TWRP and select all the partitions including System, Data, Boot, Recovery, EFS.
Step No 6:- Once the backup is finished, go back to the TWRP main menu. Tap on wipe button > select Advanced Wipe, Dalvik Cache, System, Data, and Cache.
Step No 7:- Navigate to the main menu of TWRP and tap on the install. Locate the ROM .zip file that you have already transferred to the internal storage of your device and select it.
Step No 8:- Confirm the installation by swiping it to proceed with the installation.
Step No 9:- Repeat the above steps to install Google Apps package on your Galaxy E5 E500H.
Step No 10:- After the ROM and Gapps installation is completed, select Reboot System in TWRP recovery.
Done! You have installed CM12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Galaxy E5 successfully.
