Backup and Restore OnePlus One using EFS One-Click Tool – How To

Advanced Android users are always indulge in installing custom ROMs, rooting their devices or using custom recoveries like TWRP/CWM. But the most important thing is creating a proper backup of all the important data and settings before going ahead to flashing Android phones with custom ROMs or rooting etc. As these processes might sometimes end up bricking the devices. Being an OnePlus One owner, you’ll be happy to know that EFS one-click tool can be used to take backup and restore using saved EFS partition backup.

Steps to Create Backup EFS Partition on OnePlus One:

Step No 1:- First, download and install the ADB Installer from the above link on the PC.

Step No 2:- Enable USB debugging on the OnePlus One by navigating to Settings > About phone and hit “Build Number” for a few times (7 times) to unlock developer options. Then go to Settings > Developer options > check the USB Debugging option to enable it.

Step No 3:- Plug your OnePlus One device to the computer. Once a pop-up message is displayed on the phone then make sure that the “Always allow from this computer” option is checked. Hit OK button.

Step No 4:- Extract the one click EFS backup tool ( file to get a folder named EFS-Backup-Restore on the desktop of your PC.

Step No 5:- While the device is connected to the PC, double click on the BACKUP EFS.bat file to run it to back up the EFS partition on your PC automatically.

Step No 6:- Once the backup process is finished successfully, two files: modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin will be appeared in the same folder where you have the Backup EFS.bat file. Keep in mind that this folder should be saved on a safe location.

Steps to Restore OnePlus One using EFS Backup Tool:

Step No 1:- Enable USB Debugging Mode on the OnePlus One.

Step No 2:- Now, connect your OnePlus One device to the computer using its USB data cable.

Step No 3:- Go to EFS-Backup-Restore folder, you’ll see the two files, modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin in that folder.

Step No 4:- Now, run the Restore EFS.bat file and the phone’s IMEI will be restored along with EFS partition.
