The custom ROM given in this tutorial is working with Galaxy S5 LTE variant only. Do not try to install it on any other variant, or your device might get bricked. You can check the device’s model by going to Settings > About Phone.
Before Getting Started:
- Its important to backup all your data and settings using a custom recovery tool such as ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP before starting the installation process.
- Enable USB Debugging Mode by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
- Download & install correct USB drivers
- Make sure that your phone is rooted having the latest CWM recovery installed on it.
- The bootloader of the Galaxy S5 should be unlocked.
- Remember to check the battery level of your device, it should be at least about 80% charged to avoid shutdowns while flashing ROM.

Steps to Install Android 5.0.2 CyanogenMod 12 ROM on Galaxy S5 LTE:
Step No 1:- Plug the Galaxy S5 LTE to the PC and mount the USB Mass Storage of the phone.
Step No 2:- Now copy the downloaded CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2 custom ROM (cm-12-20150108-NIGHTLY-klte.zip) to the root folder of the SD card of your phone.
Step No 3:- Unplug your Galaxy S5 from the PC.
Step No 4:- Now turn OFF the phone in order to boot it into Recovery Mode.
Step No 5:- Next, turn the device ON by pressing and holding Volume up + Home + Power keys simultaneously to put the Galaxy S5 into Recovery Mode.
Step No 6:- While the phone is now in ClockworkMod Recovery, perform Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache as well by going to Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Note:- Wipe Dalvik Cache will help to prevent boot loop issues and other boot ROM errors while installing firmware.
Step No 7:- Go back to the main Recovery Menu and select Install Zip from SD card.
Step No 8:- Click Choose Zip from SD card and find the CM12 ROM .zip that you have already copied to the root folder of your SD Card. Select it and confirm to proceed the firmware installation on the next screen.
Step No 9: Install Google Apps (Gapps) Package by repeating the above steps on your Galaxy S5.
Step No 10:- Navigate to “+++++Go Back+++++” after installing the CM12 ROM and Google Apps package.
Step No 11:- From the Recovery Menu, choose Reboot System Now.
Please remember that it will take about 10 to 15 minutes to boots up for the first time to load all the new files.
