How To Root Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F on G900FXXU1BNL2 Android 5.0 Lollipop

Samsung has already started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop latest official firmware update with build G900FXXU1BNL2 for Galaxy S5  G900F LTE LRX21T. This new update is available currently in Poland region for Galaxy S5 G900F (LTE) via OTA but those users who have not received the OTA notification on their devices in other countries, can now download and manually install it by using this step by step guide given here.

So if you have updated your Galaxy S5 to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop G900FXXU1BNL2 official firmware and have been missing the taste of root access that you were enjoying on the previous version of Android (KitKat), then here’s a good news for you that you can now root Galaxy G900F on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop with build G900FXXU1BNL2 using Chainfire’s SuperSU. So go ahead, read the preparations and start to root your Galaxy S5.

Note:- This guide is only applicable for the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) only. Please do not try to install this firmware update on other variants as it may brick your device. You can easily check the model number of the Samsung Galaxy S5 by going to Settings > About Phone.

Before Getting Started:-

  • Take a backup of all your important data to avoid potential data loss during the rooting process such as your Text Messages, MMS, Contacts, Call Logs and other data etc.
  • Download and install Galaxy S5 (LTE) SM-G900F USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode on your phone by going to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Make sure that your Galaxy S5 is is factory unlocked.
  • Check the battery level of your phone, it should be at least 85% charged.

How To Install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy S5 SM-G900F

You’ll need to install the flashable TWRP file (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-klte.tar) on Galaxy S5 that you’ve already downloaded from the above link. Now follow the given guide to install TWRP recovery using Odin Tool.

Step No 1:- First of all, move the TWRP file (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-klte.tar) and Odin3.09 to a folder on the desktop.

Step No 2:- Run Odin3 v3.09.exe as an Administrator to launch.

Step No 3:- Verify that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked and Re-Partition is unchecked on Odin.

Step No 4:- Turn Off your Galaxy S5 and press & hold Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time until a warning screen appears, then press the Power button to enter in Download Mode.

Step No 5:- While your phone is in Download Mode, plug in the phone to your PC.

Step No 6:- In Odin the ID:COM port will display Added!! message once your device is connected and drivers are installed properly.

Step No 7:- Click on the AP button and select the openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-klte.tar

Step No 8:- Now click on Start button to begin the installation process.

Step No 9:- This flashing process will take some time and after the process is successfully finished, a Pass Message will be displayed and your phone will be automatically rebooted.

The TWRP Recovery is installed on you Samsung Galaxy S5. Now it is the time to flash the SuperSU zip file.

Steps To Root Galaxy S5 SM-G900F on Android 5.0 Lollipop using Chainfire’s SuperSU:

Step No 1:- Move the SuperSU file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip) file that you’ve already downloaded to a desired location (external SD card/internal storage) on your Galaxy S5.

Step No 2:- Next, boot your Galaxy S5 into download mode. First Power Off your phone and then press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys altogether until a warning screen appears. Now release the Power key once you see the Samsung logo, but keep pressed the other two keys till the TWRP recovery menu displays.

Step No 3:- Tap on the Install button, and find the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip file where you have moved in Step No 1. Select it.

Step No 4:- Finally, swiping the installation confirmation slider button will let SuperSU flash the file on your Galaxy S5. Wait for the flashing process to be completed.

Step No 5:- Reboot your device by tapping on the Reboot button once the installation is done.

As soon as your Galaxy S5 boots up, you’ll have the root access.
