Update Galaxy Note 4 N910F to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Unofficial CyanogenMod 12 ROM

The latest CyanogenMod 12 ROM  based Android 5.0.2 Lollipop recently released for many Samsung’s flagship devices. Now the Galaxy Note 4 can taste the sweetness of Lollipop as the first unofficial build of CyanogenMod 12 ROM is now available for Galaxy Note 4 with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop features, thanks to the CyanogenMod (CM) team. The flagship phablet will soon receive the official Lollipop firmware update from Samsung.

If you can’t wait for the official release and want to experience the stock Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with CyanogenMod 12, then here is a step by step guide that how to install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop via Unofficial CyanogenMod 12 ROM on Galaxy Note 4 N910F.

As we’ve mentioned above that this firmware is not officially released by Samsung, but is just a custom ROM developed by third-party developers, so all of the features might not functioning properly including some bugs at this time. Please note before going ahead that your device should be rooted and have a custom recovery (CWM / TWRP recovery) installed to flash the ROM and Google Apps zip files on your Galaxy Note 4.

The given guide can be used for the Galaxy Note 4 (European variant) N910F only. You can check the model number of your device from Settings > About Phone.

Before Getting Started:

  • It is highly recommended to take a proper back up of all your important data and settings on the phone before proceeding to flash your device using a custom Recovery like ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP.
  • Ensure that you’ve properly installed correct USB Drivers on the PC for your Galaxy Note 4.
  • Enable USB Debugging mode by going to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Your device should be Rooted with CWM Recovery installed.
  • The bootloader of your Galaxy Note 4 should be Unlocked.
  • Verify the battery level of your phone, it should be charged at least about 80% before going ahead to the following instructions.

Steps to Install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop CyanogenMod 12 Unofficial ROM on Galaxy Note 4 N910F:

Follow the given instructions to update Galaxy Note 4 N910F to Android 5.0.2 CM12 Unofficial Lollipop custom firmware:

Step No 1:- First, plug your Galaxy Note 4 with the PC and mount the USB Mass Storage of the phone.

Step No 2:- Transfer the CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2 custom ROM .zip file (cm-12-20141228-UNOFFICIAL-trltexx.zip)

that you’ve already downloaded from the above links to the root folder of SD Card on the phone.

Step No 3:- Disconnect your Galaxy Note 4 from PC.

Step No 4:- Turn Off the device in order to boot it into Recovery Mode.

Step No 5:- Turn On the device by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power keys at the same time.

Step No 6:- While your Galaxy Note 4 is now in CWM Recovery, perform Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache by navigating to Advanced and select Wipe Dalvik Cache.

Note:- Please note that Wipe Dalvik Cache will help you to prevent boot loop issues or any errors related to boot ROM during firmware installation.

Step No 7:- Go back to the main recovery menu and select Install Zip from SD Card -> Choose Zip from SD Card. Navigate to the CM12 ROM .zip file which you have already transferred to SD card of your phone. Select it by tapping Power button and confirm to proceed the ROM installation.

Step No 8:- Install Google Apps (Gapps) Package by repeating the above steps on your phone.

Step No 9:- Go to “+++++Go Back+++++” and in the Recovery menu, select Reboot System Now once the ROM and Gapps installation completes.

Your Galaxy Note 4 will not be restarted and will take about 4 to 5 minutes to boot up.

That’s All! You’ve updated Galaxy Note 4 N910F to the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop via CM12 custom ROM.
