Root LG G4 H815 using Chainfire’s SuperSU Root Tool - How To

If you have LG G4 H815 device then you’ll be glade to know that LG G4 Root is now available that will give you administrative privileges over the internal file system of your device as a superuser. After rooting your LG G4, you’ll be able to change system partition and can install third-party apps that need root access such as Titanium backup, xposed and its modules. Thanks to Chainfire for providing the SuperSU root tool for the international European variant of LG G4 H815.

Keep in mind that you will need to unlock the bootloader of your phone first to root LG G4 and TWRP recovery should be installed on it. You can easily root the H815 model of G4 (International European Variant) because LG is allowing unlocking of bootloader for this variant only. Users having other variants will have to wait, as more variants are supported, root should be available for them too. If you are ready to root your LG G4 then go ahead and follow the given instructions but before going ahead unlock the bootloader.

Before Getting Started:

  • Make sure that you have properly created the backup of all your important data and settings before proceeding to the rooting instructions as the root method is likely to wipe out everything.
  • The battery level of your device should be at least about 80% to prevent unexpected shut down during the rooting process.

Required Files:

Download SuperSU Root Package (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip)

Steps to Root LG G4 H815 with Chainfire’s SuperSU Root Tool:

Step No 1:- First of all, unlock the bootloader of your phone because without unlocking the LG G4 you will not be able to install a custom recovery. Here is how to unlock the bootloader of LG G4.

Step No 2:- Next, install and setup ADB drivers. Read this guide.

Step No 3:- Download and install LG drivers on your PC. (Windows , Mac)

Step No 4:- Download and install TWRP Recovery

Step No 5:- Plug your device to the PC using its USB data cable.

Step No 6:- Transfer the SuperSU root package to the phone’s storage.

Step No 7:- Boot your LG G4 into recovery mode. Open the folder where you have saved the TWRP recovery and launch the command prompt window within that folder.

Hold the Shift key, right-click on an empty space inside the folder. A drop down menu will show up, select Open command window here

Step No 8:- Type the following command and press Enter:

adb reboot recovery

Step No 9:- While the device is now in Recovery, tap on Install. Navigate to the SuperSU file that you’ve already saved in Step No 6. Select the file and then choose Swipe to Confirm Flash option.

Step No 10:- A successful written in blue text will be appeared on the next screen. Restart the LG G4 by selecting Reboot > System.

The rebooting process might take some time, so be patient and wait until the phone boots up.

Done! You have successfully rooted your LG G4 and you can now enjoy root apps.
