How to Install Android 5.1 Lollipop on Galaxy S4 I9500 with EuphoriaOS custom ROM

Before Getting Started:

  • Take a proper backup of all your important data and settings on the Galaxy S4 before proceeding to the installation using a custom recovery, as this tutorial will wipe out all your data.
  • Download and install correct Samsung Galaxy S4 USB Drivers on the PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode on the Galaxy S4 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
  • The Galaxy S4 I9500 should be rooted with the latest version of a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP installed on it.
  • The bootlaoder of your phone should be unlocked.
  • Check the battery level of your Galaxy S4, it should be charged at least about 80% to prevent unexpected shutdowns while installation.

Steps to Update Galaxy S4 I9500 to Android 5.1 EuphriaOS Lollipop Custom ROM:

Follow the given step by step guide to install Android 5.1 EuphoriaOS Lollipop custom firmware on Galaxy S4 I9500:

Step No 1:- First of all, download Android 5.1 EuphoriaOS ROM and Google Apps on the desktop of your PC for Galaxy S4.

Step No 2:- Plug your Galaxy S4 with the PC using its USB data cable and mount the Mass USB memory of the phone.

Step No 3:- Transfer the downloaded Android 5.1 EuphoriaOS ROM and Google Apps zipped files to the root folder of your SD card.

Step No 4:- Unplug the device from PC and power OFF the Galaxy S4 in order to boot into Recovery Mode.

Step No 5:- Now power ON the S4 by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power keys at the same time.

Step No 6:- While your Galaxy S4 I9500 is now in ClockworkMod Recovery, choose perform a full data wipe by selecting “wipe data/factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and dalvik cache as well.

Navigate to “advanced” and then select “wipe dalvik cache”.

Note: Wipe Dalvik Cache will help you to prevent boot loops or any other ROM related errors.

Step No 7:- Navigate to the main recovery menu and select “install zip from SD card” > “choose zip from sdcard” and locate the Android 5.1 EuphoriaOS custom ROM .zip file which you have already transferred to the root folder of your SD Card. Use the Power key to select it and confirm the installation to begin on the next screen.

Step No 8:- Install Google Apps Package on your Galaxy S4 by repeating the above steps.

Step No 9:- Once the ROM installation completes, go to “+++++Go Back+++++” and from the recovery menu, select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.

Your Galaxy S4 I9500 will take some time about 4 to 5 minutes to boots up for the first time after installation.
