Root Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F (International variant) with CF-Auto-Root

If you wish to buy the latest Galaxy S6 in the future, then you might want to get root access to its internal file system and install various tweaks and modifications on it. He has added the Galaxy S6 (International Variant) SM-G920F to the list of CF-Auto-Root, as its previous release was for the T-Mobile (SM-G920T and SM-G925T).

The CF-Auto-Root method has been tested on Galaxy S6 by many users and they got success to obtain the root access but keep in mind that rooting the Galaxy S6 will trip the Knox Warranty of your phone. Before Getting Started:

  • It is highly recommended to take a proper backup of all your existing data and settings before proceeding to the root guide using a custom recovery.
  • Download and install proper Samsung Galaxy S6 USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode on the Galaxy S6 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options. If this option is not available then go to Settings > About Phone and tap 7 times on the Build Number.
  • Check the battery level of your Galaxy S6, it should be charged at least about 80% to avoid unexpected shutdowns while rooting your Galaxy S6.

Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F using CF-Auto-Root:

Step No 1:- First, download the CF-Auto Root package (CF-Auto-Root-zeroflte-zerofltexx-smg920f.zip) and Odin flashing tool from the above given links on your PC.

Step No 2:- Now, unzip the downloaded CF-Auto Root package on the PC to get a .tar.md5 file.

Step No 3:- Turn OFF the Galaxy S6 in order to boot into Download Mode.

Step No 4:- Turn the S6 ON by pressing and holding Home + Power + Volume Down keys at the same time.

Step No 5:- Run Odin on the PC (as Administrator).

Step No 6:- As the Galaxy S6 SM-G920F unit is currently in Download Mode, plug it to the computer and wait for a while till Odin detects it. If the drivers are installed correctly then the ID: COM box will turn light blue in Odin, once the phone is connected successfully.

Step No 7:- In Odin, click on the AP button and navigate to the firmware file that you’ve already extracted and placed on the desktop of your PC.

Step No 8:- Ensure that you’ve checked Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options and the Re-Partition option must be unchecked.

Step No 9:- In Odin, click on the Start button to begin the installation process that may take a few minutes to completed.

Step No 10:- Once the flashing process is finished, the Galaxy S6 SM-G920F will be automatically rebooted.

Step No 11:- Disconnect the device from the PC after the home screen appears.

Done! You’ve successfully rooted the Galaxy S6 SM-G920F via CF-Auto Root Package with Odin.
