The Android 5.0.1 factory images for the updated OS are now available, for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 4 devices as build LRX22C. Google released the updated images last week for the Nexus 9, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. So users having Nexus 6 and Nexus 4 devices can now receive this Lollipop update via OTA update and through Google’s factory images as well. But if you are facing problem while updating your devices via OTA then you can also download and install the factory images on Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 manually before installing a custom ROMs or rooting.

Note: The Android 5.0.1 factory images are only applicable for Nexus 6 and Nexus 4 devices. Double check the model number of your Nexus device before flashing factory images.

Before Getting Started:
- Don’t forget to take back up of all important data such as SMS, MMS, Settings, Contents, Call Logs and Contacts etc.

- Your Nexus device should have about 70 to 80% battery charge before proceeding to the flashing process.

Steps to Install Android 5.0.1 Factory Images on Nexus 4 and Nexus 6:
Step No 1:- After download the above factory image file on your PC, connect the Nexus 4/6 to your PC its USB data cable.
Step No 2:- Install and configure the Fastboot on your PC. Check this guide
Step No 3:- Now boot your Nexus device into Fastboot/Bootloader mode: Turn Off your device and then press and hold Volume Up + Power buttons at the same time. Now release the buttons once the fastboot menu and Start icon appear on the screen of the Nexus 4 or Nexus 6.
Step No 4:- Now unzip the image file that you’ve already downloaded from the above link to a folder on the desktop of your PC.
Step No 5:- Next, transfer the extracted files to the fastboot directory.
Step No 6:- Open the Fastboot directory and choose the right factory image file from there and execute the commands, depending on the installed operating system on your PC.
For Windows: Run the file:
flash-all.bat
For Mac: Run the file using Terminal:
flash-all.sh
For Linux: Run the file:
flash-all.sh
Step No 7:- This process will take some time to be completed successfully, so set back.
Step No 8:- The Nexus device will be rebooted once the installation is finished successfully. It might take about 4-5 minutes to boot your Nexus device for the first time.
