Update Moto G 2013 GPe XT1032 to Android 5.1 Lollipop (LMY47M) OTA Update Manually

Moto G Google Play Edition can be updated now to Android 5.1 Lollipop. If you have the Mot G smartphone then this is a good news for you that the latest Android OS version update has begun rolling out by Motorola for this device. The build number of this firmware update is LMY47M for the Moto G 2013 GPe XT1032. LMY47M is a major update and its size is about 171MB. You can check the OTA notification area to update your Moto G Google Play Edition but if the update is not yet available in your country then don’t worry if you’re too impatient and can’t wait for the official release in your region, just follow the given instructions to download and flash the Android 5.1 (LMY47M) OTA update manually on your Moto G.

This guide containing the OTA zip files and instructions are working with the Moto G 2013 Google Play Edition (GPe). If the model number of your device is XT1032 then go ahead, otherwise not. Do not try to flash this firmware on any other device or incorrect variant, as a result the device might get bricked. Verify the model number of your device first before proceeding the installation guide.

Before Getting Started:

  • Take a proper backup of all your data and settings before proceeding to the given instructions.
  • The battery level of your Moto G should be charged at least about 80%.

Steps to Update Moto G 2013 GPe to Android 5.1 Lollipop build LMY47M OTA Manually:

Step No 1:- First, download the Android 5.1 Lollipop LMY47M OTA files directly on the Moto G 2013, or you can also download it on the PC and then copy the OTA files to the internal SD card of your phone.

Step No 2:- Once done, switch OFF the Moto G in order to boot into bootloader or recovery mode.

Step No 3:- Wait for a few seconds and then switch ON the device while pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons at the same time to enter into bootloader / recovery mode.

Note: You can use the Volume Down button to select the Recovery option, then choose it by tapping the Volume Up button until a warning Android logo displays in the middle of the device’s screen.

Step No 4:- Tap the Volume Up + Volume Down buttons for a while (5 seconds) and while holding these 2 buttons just press and release the Power button.

Step No 5:- The Moto G GPe will boot into stock recovery mode now showing “Android System Recovery” on the screen.

Step No 6:- Select “apply update from sdcard”.

Step No 7:- Navigate to the downloaded Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA zip file that you’ve already copied to the internal SD card of your phone. Select it to start the installation process.

Step No 8:- This process may take some time, then follow the on-screen instructions to reboot the phone.

The Moto G 2013 GPe might take about 4 to 5 minutes to boot for the first time after installation.

Done! You’ve successfully installed Android 5.1 Lollipop LMY47M OTA update manually on your Moto G 2013 GPe.

    It does not show “Android System Recovery”. It only shows Recover.

    once I select that it shoes no command.

    “Apply update from SD card” does not appear on my Recovery Menu. Moto G GPe 5.0.1
