Install Android 5.1 AICP ROM [Unofficial] on Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F / N910G

Samsung has just finished the official rollout of Android 5.0 and the company has not yet announced the exact date that when they will release the Android 5.1 officially for Galaxy Note 4 devices. But if you have Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F or N910G and can’t wait for the official update then you’ll be happy to know that the Note 4 can be updated now to the latest Android OS 5.1 Lollipop. Thanks to the Team Emotroid (AICP Team) for providing the AICP (Android Ice Cold Project) ROM and “aukhan” (XDA Developer), who has compiled and ported the AICP ROM to the Galaxy Note 4.

If you are ready to get this latest Android 5.1 AICP ROM on your Galaxy Note 4 to increases the performance and overall stability of your device then follow the given instructions carefully. Keep in mind that this ROM is still under development and if you face any issues relating messaging, camera, music and video, then you’ll need to apply the following given fixes after the installation of the AICP ROM. As this ROM has not been officially released by Samsung, thus you’ll need to wait a little more to enjoy Touchwiz Android 5.1 Lollipop on you Galaxy Note 4.

Note:

This guide containing instructions are only working with the Galaxy Note 4 SM-G910F/G. So it is recommended that you can try this ROM if your Note 4’s model no. is SM-G910F/G, otherwise not. You can check the model number of your device in Settings > About phone.

Before Getting Started:

  • Take a proper backup of all your existing data and settings before proceeding to the ROM installation guide using a recommended custom recovery like CWM or TWRP.
  • Download and install the correct USB Drivers for the Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F and SM-N910G on the PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode on your device by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Your device should be rooted with CWM recovery installed on it.
  • The bootloader of the Galaxy Note 4 must be unlocked.
  • Make sure that the battery level of your device should be charged at least about 80%.

Steps to Install AICP Android 5.1 ROM [Unofficial] on Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F / SM-N910G:

Step No 1:- First, download AICP Android 5.1 custom ROM for  Galaxy Note 4 on the desktop of the PC.

Step No 2:- Connect the Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F and SM-N910G to the PC using its USB data cable and mount its USB memory storage.

Step No 3:- Copy the AICP Android 5.1 custom ROM .zip file that you’ve already downloaded from the above link, to the root folder of your SD card on the phone.

Step No 4:- Disconnect the phone from the PC and power it OFF to boot it into Recovery Mode.

Step No 5:- Power ON your Note 4 while pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time to enter into Recovery Mode.

Step No 6:- While your device is now in CWM Recovery, perform wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache also by navigating to Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache.

Note:- wipe dalvik cache will help you to prevent boot loops and other errors while ROM installation.

Step No 7:- Go back to the main Recovery Menu and choose install zip from SD card → choose zip from sdcard.

Step No 8:- Navigate to the AICP Android 5.1 custom ROM zipped file which you’ve already transferred to the SD card of your device previously. Select the ROM .zip file using the Power button and confirm the installation to begin.

Step No 9:- Navigate to +++++Go Back+++++ once the installation is completed. From Recovery Menu, reboot your device by selecting reboot system now.

Your Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F and SM-N910G will be rebooted and may take about 4 to 5 minutes to boot for the first time after installation.

That’s All! You’ve successfully updated Galaxy Note 4 N910F/N910G to Android 5.1 Lollipop via AICP ROM.
