How to Install Unofficial CyanogenMod 12 Android5.0 ROM on Galaxy Note GT-N7000

Android 5.0 Lollipop with an unofficial CyanogenMod 12 ROM is now available to download and install on one of the most popular first Galaxy Note series smartphone, Galaxy Note GT-N7000. Unofficial CM12 ROMs with Android 5.0 Lollipop has been rolled out for many Android devices recently and Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is one of those lucky devices that also received Android 5.0 update via reputed CyanogenMod 12 ROM by the industrious CyanogenMod team. This ROM is currently in its alpha stages so you may face a few broken features and some untested bugs that are not working properly. But those Galaxy Note N7000 owners who can’t wait for a stable release, can taste the sweetness of Lollipop.

Here we’ve given a step by step guide to update Galaxy Note N7000 to Cyanogenmod 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop custom firmware. Keep in mind that this is just a custom ROM based on the latest AOSP release, not an official Samsung’s release. You’ll need a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod to flash the ROM and Google Apps .zip files on your Galaxy N7000. Note:

Please note that this guide is working for the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (international variant) only. Do not try to install this firmware on any other variant, as a result it may brick your device. You can check the model number of your Android device by navigating to Settings > About Phone.

Before Getting Started:

  • Please take a complete backup of all your data on the Galaxy Note N7000 using a CWM or TWRP recovery before proceeding.
  • Enable USB debugging mode on the Galaxy Note by going to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Download and install the Galaxy Note N7000 USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Your Galaxy Note N7000 should be factory unlocked.
  • The bootloader of the device should be unlocked.
  • The Galaxy Note N7000 must be Rooted otherwise you’ll not be able to install this custom ROM.
  • Ensure that your device has at least about 80% of charge before going ahead.

Steps to Update Galaxy Note N7000 to Android 5.0 Lollipop [Unofficial] CyanogenMod 12 ROM:

Step No 1:- First of all, download the CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0 custom ROM and Google Apps .zip files on the desktop of your PC.

Step No 2:- Plug your Galaxy Note N7000 with the PC using USB data cable and mount the USB Mass Storage.

Step No 3:- Transfer CM12 Android 5.0 ROM .zip file to the root folder of your microSD card on the device.

Step No 4:- Now disconnect the Galaxy Note N7000 from the PC and Turn it Off to boot into Recovery Mode.

Step No 5:- Turn On the phone and press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons altogether.

Step No 6:- While your device is now in CWM Recovery, perform a full data wipe by selecting Wipe Data/Factory Reset.

Step No 7:- Next, perform Wipe Cache Partition and wait for the process to be finished.

Step No 8:- Now perform Wipe Dalvik Cache by navigating to Advanced” → Wipe Dalvik Cache”.

Step No 9:- Go back to the main recovery menu and select Install Zip from SD card.

Step No 10:- Click on Choose Zip from SD card and find the CM12 ROM .zip file that you already transferred to your microSD card in Step No 2. On the next screen, confirm the ROM installation process to begin.

Step No 11:- Install Google Apps (Gapps) by repeating the above steps.

Step No 12:- After the ROM and Gapps successfully installed, navigate to “+++++Go Back+++++” and from the Recovery Menu, select Reboot System Now.

It may take about 4-5 minutes to complete the first boot after rebooting. So please set back.

      @Maarzx please perform Wipe Dalvik Cache (Step No 8) by going to “Advanced” option and then select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”. This will help in preventing ROM related errors during firmware installation and boot loop issues.
