Root Galaxy S4 LTE-A on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Build I9506XXUDOA6

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update was previously rolled out with build number I9506XXUDOA6 by Samsung last week for Galaxy S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506). Thanks to CastagnaIT (XDA Developer) for sharing a simple guide that can be used to root Galaxy S4 LTE-A on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop official build I9506XXUDOA6. In this guide we’ll use Chainfire’s SuperSU root package and then flash TWRP recovery on the Galaxy S4 to get root access using ODIN. So if you are ready to go ahead then follow the given guide to root Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on Galaxy S4 LTE-A.

Note:

This tutorial having the CF-Auto-Root file can be used with the Galaxy S4 LTE-A GT-I9506. Do not try to install this file on any other or incorrect variant, as a result, your device might gets bricked. You can verify the model number of your Galaxy S4 LTE-A by going to Settings > About device > Model Number.

Warning:

Before Getting Started:

  • Take a proper backup of your important data and settings on your Galaxy S4 LTE-A using a custom recovery. If something goes wrong then you’ll be able to restore the data.
  • Download and install correct Galaxy S4 LTE-A (I9506) USB Drivers on the PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode on your phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options > check the USB Debugging option.
  • A custom Recovery such as TWRP should be already installed on your Galaxy S4.
  • Check the battery level of the Galaxy S4, it should be charged at least about 80% before proceeding to the installation instructions.

Steps To Root Galaxy S4 LTE-A on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with CF-Auto-Root Package:

Step No 1:- First, download SuperSU root package from the above link on the desktop of your PC for Galaxy S4.

Step No 2:- Now, plug your Galaxy S4 to the PC using its USB data cable and copy the downloaded root package zipped file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.45.zip) to the root folder of your SD card.

Step No 3:- Disconnect the device from the PC after copying the SuperSU zipped root file.

Step No 4:- Turn it OFF in order to enter into Recovery Mode.

Step No 5:- Turn the device ON while pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power keys at the same time for a while.

  • Use Volume key to navigate between options
  • Power key to select an option

Step No 6:- While your Galaxy S4 LTE-A is in TWRP Recovery, choose the Install button and navigate to the Update-SuperSU-v245.zip file that you’ve already copied to the root folder of your SD Card. Select the file and confirm the installation process to begin.

Step No 7:- Reboot the device once the installation is completed successfully.
