Here we’ve given two methods to update Shield Tablet to Android 5.0.1.
- Update via Recovery Mode
- Update using ADB sideload

Note:
The OTA files given in this guide are only working with Nvidia Shield Tablet. Do not try to install this update on any other variant, as a result your device might get bricked.

Before Getting Started:
- Make a proper back up of all your data before flashing the stock OTA firmware on your Shield Tablet.
- Enable USB debugging Mode on your tablet by navigating to Settings > Developers Options.
- Download and setup the minimal Fastboot/ADB tool on your PC.
- Download and install Nvidia Shield Tablet Drivers on the PC.
- The Shied Tablet should have above 70% battery charge.

Steps to Install Android 5.0.1 OTA update on Nvidia Shield Tablet using Recovery:
Step No 1:- First, download the Android 5.0.1 OTA file for your Nvidia Shield Tablet from the given above download links on the PC.
Step No 2:- Copy the Android 5.0.1 OTA .zip file to the internal storage of the tablet.
Step No 3:- Power Off your Shield Tablet in order to boot it into Recovery Mode.
Step No 4:- Power On the tablet by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons together to enter Bootloader mode.
Step No 5:- While your device is in Recovery, choose Install > choose OTA zip from the sdcard and then confirm the flashing process. This process may take a while.
Step No 6:- Reboot the tablet once the installation successfully finished. It will take about 5 minutes to complete the initial boot after installation.
Steps to Install Android 5.0.1 OTA update on Nvidia Shield Tablet using ADB Sideload:
Step No 1:- First of all download the ADB files from the above given link and then extract them on desktop of your PC.
Step No 2:- Open the extracted ADB Folder and run command prompt.
Step No 3:- Plug your Nvidia Shield Tablet to PC via its USB data cable and reboot it into Recovery Mode.
Step No 4:- In the recovery mode, enter ADB sideload menu:
- For CWM, navigate to Install > Install Zip from Sideload.
- For TWRP, go to Advanced > ADB Sideload.
Step No 5:- Transfer the Android 5.0.1 OTA .zip file to the ADB folder.
Step No 6:- Type and enter the following command in the command prompt.
adb sideload
Step No 7:- The above given command will copy the .zip file to the device. Once the file is copied, it will be automatically installed on the Shield tablet. Reboot the tablet, once the installation finished.
