Install Official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop LRX22C Build on Galaxy S4

The first official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with build number LRX22C is now available to install on Galaxy S4 GT-I9500. This is a good news for the Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 owners that they can now update their devices to this latest LRX22C build. Thanks to the blackcat67 (XDA Developers senior member) for uploading the leaked Lollipop firmware for Galaxy S4 to update ahead of its official release from Samsung.

This firmware has been tested by many S4 users and they reported that all of the basic features such as Wi-Fi, network data, Bluetooth, sensors and NFC etc are working well and it is also compatible with the other variants of Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500, GT-I9502, GT-I9508 and the GT-I9508v except GT-I9505 (Snapdragon 600). So if you have Galaxy S4 device and want to get this latest build on it then we’ve a detailed guide on how to install this official firmware by following the given instructions.

Note:

This guide containing Android 5.0.1 LRX22C firmware is working with Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500, GT-I9502, GT-I9508, GT-I9508v) variants only. Flashing an incorrect firmware on any other device may brick your phone. You can check the device’s model number by going to Settings > About Phone.

Before Getting Started:

  • Make sure to take a proper backup of all your data and settings before proceeding to the installation guide. In case anything goes wrong then you’ll be able to restore your data on the phone.
  • Download and install the correct Galaxy S4 USB Drivers on the PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging Mode by going to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Your Galaxy S4 must be factory unlocked.
  • Check the battery level of your Galaxy S4, it should be charged at least about 70%.

Steps to Update Galaxy S4 to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop official build LRX22C:

Step No 1:- First of all, download Android 5.0.1 build LRX22C (GT-I9500.7z) and Odin v3.10 zip files on the desktop of your PC.

Step No 2:- Now extract the (GT-I9500.7z) and Odin v3.10 file.

Step No 3:- Boot your Galaxy S4 into Download Mode, to do so, first, turn OFF the device and then turn it ON by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home keys at the same time. Tap Power key until you see the construction Android robot icon with a triangle on the phone’s screen. Finally, tap on Power key once again to enter into Download Mode.

Step No 4:- Run Odin flashing tool (As Administrator) and plug the device with your computer while it is in Download Mode.

Step No 5:- One of the ID: COM boxes will turns yellow once the device connects successfully but this process may take a while. So be patient.

Step No 6:- In Odin, click on the AP button and select the file that you’ve extracted in Step No 2.

Step No 7:- Make sure that you’ve checked the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options and the Re-Partition option is unchecked in Odin.

Note:- Re-Partition Option must be checked ONLY if you select a .PIT file.

Step No 8:- Now begin the flashing process by clicking on the Start button in Odin. This installation process might take some time.

Step No 9:- Reboot your Galaxy S4 after installation is completed. Disconnect the S4 from the PC once the homescreen appears.

Step No 10:- If you want to install Gapps package also using a custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP) then download the Google Apps package from the above given link and transfer it to the SD Card or internal memory of the phone.

Step No 11:- Boot the Galaxy S4 in to Recovery Mode and install the .zip file. How To?

    should i do a factory data rest,that whena i extract the gapps in my s4 to work properly or what?! cuz ottherwise there is a glitch (erorr) that isnt installing properly

    I installed this Rom. Neither I get clockworkmod recovery not any other recovery mode. Also google apps is not installing. Struck on this incomplete Rom. Please help install recovery/gapps or roll back to 4.4.2. Urgent help required.
